Hidden camera found in Travelodge shower
OXFORD, September 2, 2015
Police in the UK are investigating the discovery of a hidden camera in the shower of a Travelodge hotel room in Oxford, England.
Twenty three-year old Harmony Hachey had noticed an electronic device hidden behind the vent in shower, pointing directly at where she was standing naked in the shower, the Daily Mirror reported.
Hachey, who was in Oxford for a work-related event, said it was the first thing she had noticed when she went to use the shower, the report stated.
To confirm her suspicions, Hachey got a fork and dug around the vent. To her horror, she realised it was in a hidden webcam.
"I broke down at one point. I just felt so violated," she told the Daily Mirror.
The management at Oxford Wheatley Travelodge was immediately informed of the discovery and the incident was reported to Thames Valley Police.
According to the report, it is believed that the webcam was installed via a maintenance unit which backs onto the room. Police said a USB cable was attached to the camera, but it was not switched.
A spokeswoman said the camera was not plugged in but has been recovered for further examination, it said.
Investigations are ongoing.
