The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul welcomes new GM

ISTANBUL, July 15, 2015

The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, a luxury retreat in the Turkish capital, has welcomed Can Göktaş as its new general manager.

Göktaş is no stranger to the hotel, having played a key role in the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul in 2001 as the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, a position he held for several years.

“This hotel with its extraordinary views over the Bosphorus holds very special memories for me. It is an honour to return as the general manager of such a significant Istanbul landmark,” Göktaş said.

Göktaş started his career in hospitality with Divan Hotels and Swissôtel The Bosphorus in Istanbul after graduating from Bosphorus University with a degree in Tourism and Hotel Management in 1996.

In 2014 he completed his Master of Business of Administration from NEOMA Business School in Paris where he specialised in luxury brand marketing.

Prior to his new appointment, Göktaş held high-level executive positions with Kempinski Hotels before becoming the company’s regional director of sales for Turkey and Southern Europe.

During his time with Kempinski he was presented with the prestigious CEO Award for his outstanding contribution to performance in 2013 and achieved the company’s ‘Best Sales Award’ for the largest percentage increase in revenue in 2012.

“The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul is an exceptional hotel with a wonderful reputation and a wonderful team. I am looking forward to building on the success it has enjoyed over the past 14 years,” Göktaş said. – TradeArabia News Service
