Fairmont...new upscale property planned in Egypt

FRHI Hotels signs two new properties in Egypt

CAIRO, April 28, 2015

Leading hospitality group FRHI Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio with the recent signing of two new hotel projects in Egypt and the unveiling of a tri-brand hotel development in Sharm El Sheikh.

The parent company of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts and Raffles Hotels & Resorts has signed agreements with Citystars Properties, a major real estate developer in the region, to brand and operate all five projects.

The new projects include a Fairmont hotel in Soma Bay, south of Hurghada and a Swissôtel property in Katameyah, Cairo, both scheduled to open before 2020.

Fairmont Soma Bay will be part of an integrated mixed-use master development in the region, offering 300 guestrooms and suites, including the brand's ‘hotel within a hotel’ concept, Fairmont Gold, as well as 150 Fairmont branded Residences for sale.

The diverse food and beverage portfolio will offer an all-day dining room, lobby lounge and bar, beach eatery and specialty restaurant. The hotel will also cater to business and leisure guests offering more than 2,500-sq-m of meeting and event space, a wellness centre and spa along with a pristine white beach.

The Swissôtel property will feature 250 guestrooms and suites and 50 luxury residential apartments under the brand’s living concept. The hotel will also boast 38 Swiss Executive Club rooms and 1,700-sq-m of meeting space. On site, the hotel will offer a wide variety of restaurants and lounges, as well as its signature Pürovel Spa & Sport, inspired by the Alpine seasons.

In addition to the two new projects, the Citystars Sharm El Sheikh development which includes a Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel property, is spread over 7.5 million-sq-m, and offers 22 km of white sandy beaches, an 18-hole Colin Montgomerie golf course and the largest man-made, swimmable crystal blue lagoon in the world as acknowledged by Guinness World Records.

The complex is designed by Godwin Austen Johnson, a renowned architecture practice with works including Dubai Creek Golf Course & Yacht Club, the One & Only Royal Mirage hotel and Bab El Shams Desert Resort in Dubai. – TradeArabia News Service
