Qatari Diar wins approval for Egypt tourism project

CAIRO, January 26, 2015

The Egyptian Ministry of Defence has approved the implementation of a tourism project to be developed by Qatar-based real estate company Qatari Diar (QD), a report said.

The project was earlier proposed by the country’s Tourism Development Authority (TDA).

Serag El-Din Saad, head of the TDA, confirmed that the project will include hotels and shopping malls, said a report in Daily News Egypt.

The project will feature residential components also, including villas, townhouses and apartments.

The EGP16-billion ($2.16 billion) project will cover a total area of 43,000 sq m in North and South Sinai.

Currently, QD has two major projects in Egypt. One of them extends along the Nile Corniche, and the other is a big hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh.
