Turkish Airways unit, Honeywell expand MRO partnership

ISTANBUL, September 28, 2014

Turkish Technic, the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) arm of Turkish Airlines, and Honeywell Aerospace have announced the expansion of their long term aftermarket partnership.

As per the deal, Turkish Technic is authorised to carry out full-servicing and testing for all Honeywell auxiliary power units on Boeing 737 aircraft.

Based at Istanbul’s Atatürk and Sabiha Gokcen Airports, Turkish Technic will now offer depot-level MRO services for all Honeywell 131-9B APUs on Boeing 737 aircraft worldwide, said a statement from the Turkish national airline.

"As the reliance on MRO facilities for faster turnaround times increases, airlines are increasingly looking to repair and replace components during scheduled checks," stated Ahmet Karaman, the CEO of Turkish Technic.

"Under this contract, we will be able to provide faster servicing for aircrafts at Istanbul Atatürk and Sabiha Gokcen Airports across a greater range of components, and offer commercial benefits to reduce costs for global airlines requiring 131-9B APU MRO services," added Karaman.

The new contract builds on the existing agreement between the two companies to deliver industry-standard and round-the-clock MRO services to the airlines based in Turkey, and expands the authorisation to worldwide coverage to provide airlines around the world with fast, state-of-the-art and authorised servicing capabilities.

Orhan Genis, the president of Turkey and Central Asia, Honeywell, pointed out that Turkey was one of Europe’s fastest growing hubs for global air traffic, and its aerospace industry must continue to grow its engineering capabilities to support passenger demand.

"The evolution of our partnership with Turkish Technic demonstrates our ongoing commitment to, and investment in, our global customers in the region and ensures that airlines operating in this fast growth market can get fast access to the services they need to keep their fleets flying," he added.

Turkish Airlines, Turkish Technic and Honeywell are showcasing their services at the ‘Istanbul Air Show’ which concludes today (September 28).-TradeArabia News Service
