Iraq eyes foreign investments for new airport

DUBAI, September 1, 2014

Iraq plans to invite foreign investors to build a new civilian airport in the Al Diwaniyah governorate, a top official was quoted as saying in a report.

The project will come up in southwest Al Diwaniyah, Governor Ammar Al Madani said, according to a Zawya Projects News report.

"We have been officially notified of the cabinet's approval of the local government's request to construct a civilian airport in Al Diwaniyah. The studies and land committee in the cabinet stipulated that the project must be launched within two years or the approval will be cancelled," he said.
