Amman, March 22, 2014
Amman-based Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has recorded a 19.3 per cent increase in passenger traffic in February which soared to 534,122 from 447,594 last year, said a report.
QAIA also reported a 17.3 per cent year-to-date (YTD) increase in passenger traffic, settling in at 1.08 million compared to 922,663 last year, stated Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the airport.
Similarly, the aircraft movements rose by nine per cent in February to stand at 5,406 in comparison to the 4,960 recorded last year. The YTD aircraft movements also surged 8.3 per cent from 10,229 in 2013 to 11,079 this year.
The Jordanian airport has registered continued growth in both passenger traffic and aircraft movements (ACM) for the month, stated Kjeld Binger, the chief executive officer of AIG.
"This steady growth trend reflects QAIA’s unwavering commitment to delivering international service standards and to operating in accordance with best practices across the board," he remarked.
"As further testament, and despite the fact that the airport has been fully operational for less than a year, QAIA in February received two 2013 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards, ranking at 1st place in the category of ‘Best Improvement by Region: Middle East’ and at 5th place in the category of ‘Best Airport by Region: Middle East’ based on the results of the 2013 ASQ Survey, the world’s leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark program," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
