ME tourists flock to Asian islands

Dubai, December 4, 2008

The region's travellers seem to prefer the South East Asian islands for a holiday, especially around the New Year, said an industry expert.

“Our island resorts, particularly in South East Asia, are seeing growing interest from Middle Eastern-based holidaymakers keen to celebrate the New Year in a tropical location,” said Thierry Bertin, VP sales & marketing, Hyatt International, South West Asia.

Bali expects to see some two million visitors by the end of the year, while Singapore attracted over ten million visitors last year – a new record for the island.

“Grand Hyatt hotels in Bali and Singapore cater to holidaymakers wanting to experience each island’s beautiful atmosphere, warm climate and numerous attractions,” added Bertin.

Guests to the Grand Hyatt Bali, Indonesia, will find their entertainment at the hotel’s easily-accessible evening activity area – the Pasar Senggol – which, in addition to the restaurant, is the venue for local dance performances, craft exhibitions and a traditional market. The hotel has a mix of over 600 rooms, suites and villas, the majority of which offer private balconies and gardens.

The Grand Hyatt Singapore is located in the heart of the island’s commercial and entertainment districts on the popular Orchard Road. The 663-room hotel keeps guests satisfied with four hotels serving international cuisine, bars and a nightclub.

With the Islamic New Year coming up on Monday, December 29 and traditional New Year on Thursday, January 1, holidaymakers are expected to travel in large numbers between December 29 and January 3.-TradeArabia News Service
