Two key contracts for JXB awarded

Dubai, July 28, 2007

Dubai World Central International Airport (JXB) has awarded two key air traffic management system tenders.

Emirati firm International Aeradio LLC (IAL), a leading provider of cutting-edge technology has been awarded the Meteorological System contract, while the UK’s Park Air Systems (PAS), a world leader in air traffic control solutions, will be responsible for VHF Radar implementation.

Set to become the world’s largest airport, JXB - capable of handling 120-150 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo per annum – has been designed to handle the emirate’s ambition to attract 15 million tourists annually by 2015.

The airport is the core of Dubai World Central, the 140 sq km aviation community being built in Jebel Ali.

“Dubai’s leading global reputation for aviation safety and functionality is widely known,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman, Dubai Aviation Corporation – Dubai World Central, Government of Dubai.

“These tender agreements for the latest and world-class navigational aids packages represent crucial acquisitions for JXB as they are the pinnacle of modern avionics development,” he continued.

IAL’s Meteorological System will include systems that adhere to World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) standards for operational status on all JXB’s six four and a half kilometre runways. Park Air Systems’ VHF Radar contract involves the most modern air traffic management systems including next generation technology. –TradeArabia News Service
