LG unveils first digital signage trends at Gitex

DUBAI, October 8, 2017

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader in commercial display solutions, has released its top digital signage trends’ report ‘See the Signs’, based on business leaders’ views on what the future of digital displays will look like in the UAE.

The outlook reveals five key trends compiled following qualitative in-depth interviews with experts across different sectors on their perceptions and predictions for the industry, as well as their increasing requirements and areas of application for digital signage solutions.

Business leaders, quoted in the report, were unanimous in their belief that digital signage is expected to grow significantly in the UAE over the next three years with more screens set to take over static spaces in the lead up to Expo 2020.

The forecast growth trend is attributed to an increase in malls, hotels, healthcare and real estate developments that now consider screens a fundamental part of the architecture when designing their environments, said LG in its report.

Experts interviewed said the imminent rise in adoption of digital displays was also a result of greater long-term return on investment in screens over print, as brands now fully integrate digital signage into marketing strategy.
Business leaders predicted the highest growth in the continuously expanding and highly competitive retail sector in the UAE.

Commenting on the trends, Kevin Cha, the president of LG Electronics in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), said: "The UAE has positioned itself to be at the forefront of the smart city revolution, and therefore businesses across the emirates are quick to adopt digital channels and embrace disruption."

"Our report is designed to share valuable insights from business leaders to help brands identify new approaches to reach their target audiences, and make them aware of the anticipated market shifts as a result of disruption of traditional marketing and information communication channels," explained Cha.

"As leaders in OLED technology, we intend to support organizations in the region in their efforts to embrace innovation. Industry professionals visiting Gitex will be able to witness the most advanced technology and latest industry solutions in OLED technology, digital display and hospitality solutions," he added.

LG will take commercial technology to a whole new level by showcasing its advanced robust portfolio of cutting-edge display solutions catered to the evolving needs of various vertical industries including Retail, Corporate, Transportation and Hospitality amongst others at the ongoing Gitex Technology Week in Dubai.

At this year’s exhibition, the company brings a further expanded range of its slim, light and future display technology which will allow businesses to explore new ways to reach their consumers with a stunning visual experience.

Visitors to LG’s stand at Gitex will be met by an immersive nature experience with a unique digital palm tree installation featuring LG’s next generation Open Frame OLED signage, which can be configured into either convex or concave curves in both landscape and portrait mode that’s certain to capture any viewer’s attention.

Designed with dual-sided ultra-slim OLED panels in a glass pane, LG’s In-Glass Wallpaper OLED signage is perfect for retail outlets, art galleries and other businesses that want to add a sophisticated touch to their interior décor.

In addition, LG will unveil OLED “Wallpaper” Hotel TV – a unique razor-thin display that becomes one with the wall.

"The world’s first 65-inch in-room TV combines LG’s industry-leading hotel TV technology with the sleek aesthetic and unparalleled image quality of the OLED is set to revolutionize the way luxury hotels and resorts elevate guest experience," remarked Cha.

A brand-new product for 2017 – the sleek 88-inch LG Ultra Stretch joins the unique 86-inch Ultra Stretch to offer an expanded portfolio of displays from LG that address an array of installation needs, he noted.

LG Ultra Stretch displays are flexible in installation acting as a standalone display, layered together for an artistic video wall display or installed in a square pillar to create a 360-degree video wall column.

“As Gitex launches its 37th year, it is wonderful to see how far we’ve come as an industry and a brand,” Cha said.

“We will continue to raise the bar and honor our legacy of developing innovative display technologies that help our customers succeed,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
