Costliest boots to debut at Dubai jewellery show

DUBAI, November 29, 2014

The world’s most expensive pair of boots, featuring 1,527 carats of diamonds, is treading a path to the Middle East to wow visitors at the upcoming Dubai International Jewellery Week 2014.

The show will run from December 3 to 6 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Presented by Auro Jewels, the European size 38 boots retail for $3.1 million and feature more than 39,000 fancy coloured diamonds. The one-off pair of boots will be on display at the region’s biggest jewellery event, said the event organisers DWTC.

The dazzling footwear will sit alongside a one-of-a-kind sapphire and emerald front and back necklace, retailing for Dh650,000 ($176,929), which was inspired by brides who desire more than just a necklace to wear on their special day.

Wearers can combine the two necklaces together - adorning both front and back necklines - to make the ultimate statement of luxury, said the statement from DWTC.

An ‘invisible’ ruby necklace and earrings set worth a combined Dh516,800 will also be on show at Dubai International Jewellery Week.

Inspired by nature, the set is designed in a unique 3D effect to make the jewels appear even more beautiful when worn, they added.

Auro will finally launch its new collection of diamond watches, created especially for the Dubai show.

“The world’s most expensive boots have been designed with the Middle Eastern woman in mind,” explained Ayesha Mehta, the co-founder of Auro Jewels.

"The eventual owner will be someone who loves to stand out from a crowd and someone who adores, appreciates and values exclusive, rare and one-of-a-kind pieces," she stated.

With an established store in Dubai and a loyal customer base in the Middle East, Auro Jewels is making its debut at this year's show.

The company will next year open a new outlet at Ana Ghair Mall in Jeddah.

"Participating in Dubai International Jewellery Week is the ideal way to launch our regional expansion plans and we are bringing unique pieces to the event – including the launch of our new diamond watch collection - to impress visitors and potential customers," state Mehta.

Visitors to Dubai International Jewellery Week this year will have the chance to see an array of breath-taking jewellery and designs from around the world, said the organisers.

Australian South Sea Pearls will unveil a Freshwater Pink Rare Baroque Pearl set in rose gold and diamonds, while Anatol from Greece will launch its Trigonometry Collection, inspired by everyday shapes and ancient trigonometric patterns as well as display a front and back necklace comprising 71 carats of diamonds and 38 carats of colour stones.

Another retailer Bellissimo will reveal Sigismondo Capriotti’s new collection featuring delicious cupcakes and mignon pastries that embrace the tempting tones of coloured stones.

DWTC senior vice president (Exhibitions & Events Management) Trixie LohMirmand  said this year’s line-up of leading regional and international brands reflects the event’s standing as a vital platform for the highly-lucrative global jewellery sector.

"Visitors will have the opportunity to buy some of the most beautiful, creative jewellery designs from around the world – in both the super-luxury and affordable brackets," he added.

The 19th edition of the Dubai International Jewellery Week features various daily seminars designed to give consumers and trade visitors valuable opportunities to learn all there is to know about diamonds and jewellery.

In-line with the event’s standing as a platform for global jewellery trade players to source new products from an array of international brands, the popular Hosted Buyer Programme also returns.

This will see more than 100 top-level buyers from Russia and CIS countries, Turkey, Macedonia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Qatar linking up with exhibitors of their choice for focused one-to-one appointments.

Also at this year's event, Samsung will be running an exclusive photo competition, encouraging visitors to find the Samsung promoters on the show floor and take a selfie with them for a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Two devices will be given away daily during the four-day show, said the organisers.

Running alongside the event is the sixth Jewellery Design Awards which recognise amateur and professional designers from across the world for excellence in jewellery design, innovation and creativity.

The awards will see 10 winners crowned in ‘Emerging Designers’ and ‘Professional Group’ categories, including two new accolades for ‘Best Festive-Inspired Jewellery Design’ and ‘Best Futuristic Jewellery Design’.

Another highlight will be the ‘Best Emirati Jewellery Design’ contest which is open to only UAE nationals.-TradeArabia News Service
