UAE retailers start taking iPhone 6 pre-orders

Dubai, August 13, 2014

Most retailers in the UAE have kicked off taking pre-orders for iPhone 6, while several have arranged to ship in the device within 24 hours after its global launch, a report said.

The latest smartphone from Apple is expected to be unveiled on September 9 and available in Dubai ahead of Gitex Shopper by September 20, added the report in Emirates 24/7, which cited a tentative schedule made by retailers.

"Usually, it takes about 10 days for Apple to ship the devices to retail stores in select countries. Given that order, we are expecting the new device to hit UAE shores by September 20," Omar Kassim, CEO of online retail store JadoPado, was quoted in the report.

"We are not taking pre-orders but we are allowing interested customers to register with us in case they are interested to buy the iPhone 6. We will notify them the moment the device arrives.”

There could be a premium of $200 to $300 on the device, the report said.

"We are not expecting Apple to increase the pricing pattern. So we are looking at a range between $400 to $600," added Kassim.
