Life-sized Monopoly games at Dubai malls

Dubai, June 12, 2014

Majid Al Futtaim and Hasbro, a leading toy and board game company, have signed a deal to set up life-sized Monopoly at malls in Dubai from June 13.

Visitors to the Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif’s Central Galleria and City Centre Deira’s West Court on the first level can play each mall’s personalised version of the game, with jumbo dice and life-sized Monopoly cards until June 26, said a statement.

They will also have the chance to land on Ski Dubai, Vox Cinemas or iFly Dubai to win instant prizes, in addition to earning points on traditional Monopoly houses.

Shoppers will need to spend Dh300 ($81.6) to play and each game of three throws per player will last from eight to 10 minutes with some 35 to 45 games expected to be played every day at each mall, said a statement. The player with the most points will win Dh500 at each mall, with a total of Dh783,000 to be given away, said the statement.

The partnership which was initiated through Hasbro’s Middle East licensing representative 20Too and appointed event licensee Invent Creative Event Solutions, is the first ‘live’ Monopoly’ event of its kind in the region, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
