P&G, Carrefour to raise funds for Unicef
Dubai, December 23, 2013
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has joined hands with retail gaint Carrefour in the UAE to donate funds to Unicef and the Red Crescent.
The companies will donate a vaccine to Unicef and provide funds to the Red Crescent in the UAE, for each product purchased from a range of select brands at Carrefour stores across the country, said the retailer in a statement.
The fourteen brands included in this campaign, which runs till December 25, are Always, Ariel, Camay, Crest, Downy, Fairy, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, Oral B, Pampers, Pantene, Tide and Venus.
The campaign builds on P&G’s long-term Unicef-Pampers partnership to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) in developing countries, said the statement.
It provides consumers with the opportunity to show their support for an initiative that is helping to protect over 100 million women and their babies around the world.
Al Rajwani, VP and general manager for P&G in the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan, said: “Together with Carrefour, we’re supporting a cause that aims to make a difference to millions of mothers and babies around the world who are at risk from a disease that can so easily be prevented.”
Dr Ibrahim El-Ziq, Unicef Gulf representative, said: “We value the support from the private sector and this new campaign demonstrates how partnerships can work together to mobilise support for children. No children should be dying from this preventable disease. Yet it continues to claim the life of one child every nine minutes."
“Together we can make a difference and help ensure that there are more vaccines to help protect mothers and children from tetanus,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
