Samsung Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, has announced the retail availability of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the UAE.

The unique sized tablet features a super-slim light body with a powerful processor and an updated operating system, a statement from the company said.

The Samsung tablet is ultra-thin (8.6mm) and light with a weight of 465gms. The new tablet features a powerful 1GHz Dual Core application processor, Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) OS, Samsung TouchWiz UX, Adobe Flash Player 10.2 and an enhanced battery life of up to 9 hours on a single charge.

With its strong features, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 provides the ultimate tablet experience without compromising on mobility, the statement said.

Powered with the latest Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system optimised for tablets, the tablet provides a seamless user experience with faster and smoother transitions between different applications, more intuitive navigation amongst home screens and broader support of USB accessories.

Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user interface implemented on the Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) platform, offers superior multi-tasking and enhanced user interaction. The user experience is designed with a Live Panel menu that users can customise to display a variety of content on the home screen including digital pictures, favorite web sites and social network feeds.

The new tablet sports an 8.9 inch (WXGA TFT LCD) display with crystal clear resolution (1280 x 800) fitted inside a slim bezel. Additionally, it features a 3 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera that can be used to capture high quality images, videos and be used video calling. Users can enjoy full HD1080P playback and record videos of 720P picture quality, the statement said.

The Galaxy Tab is preloaded with Polaris Office feature that provides users efficient productivity on the move. With this feature, users can view, edit, and create various documents including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Clipboard allows users to store up to 20 texts and images, so they can experience advanced PC-like cut and paste function.
