Cairo, September 27, 2011
Samsung electronics has announced the expansion of its smart player portfolio with the launch of its flagship android-powered smartphone, Galaxy S II.
The Galaxy S II succeeds Samsung’s best-selling smart phone; the Galaxy S, which sold a record 14 million units globally since its debut last year. The new handset was unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2011 held in Barcelona, Spain.
The Galaxy S II features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, HSPA+ connectivity, and a Super AMOLED Plus touch screen display, the company said in a statement.
At just 8.9mm thick, the new smart phone is a powerful evolution of its predecessor in speed, screen and design.
The Galaxy S II also uses Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, allowing users to enjoy the merits of multi-tasking capabilities, super-fast upload and download time for video and photo files, and powerful 3D gaming performance.
Duke Park, general manager of Samsung Egypt, said: “Samsung is always endeavoring to develop the best products to meet the ever-changing needs of consumers. Once again we have proven our commitment to offering state-of-the-art technology by introducing the Galaxy S II, which takes smart phones speed, screen and content to a whole new level.”
In addition to a variety of new features, the phone offers super-fast communications capabilities, including: HSPA+ connectivity, which provides data transfer three times faster than the typical 3G network; through a Wi-Fi Direct capability, which enables wireless data transfer up to 300Mbps; and Bluetooth 3.0+HS, which transfers data at a rate up to 24Mbps.
Built on Samsung’s next generation TouchWiz UX technology, the Galaxy S II offers an appealing user experience, the statement said.
As part of this, Samsung has introduced Live Panel, a customisable home-screen for live web and applications aggregated in a magazine-like layout; Motion UI, in which the screen lays out in perspective depending on a user’s pull and push; and a dynamic screen effect which allows you to easily shift between the home-screen and menus.
The Galaxy S II also has an 8 mega-pixel camera and camcorder with 1080p full HD recording and playback, a gyroscopic sensor enabling precise gaming experience, and a 1650mAh high capacity battery. – TradeArabia News Service
