Sony Ericsson unveils mini smartphone

Manama, August 29, 2011

Sony Ericsson has announced the Middle East launch of Xperia mini, a feature-rich and compact smartphone that is built on the success of the original mini-series.

The versatile gadget offers complete multimedia applications that enhance the entertainment experience, said a Sony Ericsson statement.

The Xperia mini provides access to over 250,000 apps on the Android market and has a three-inch scratch-resistant, multi-touch glass screen. The improved user interface allows the display of up to 16 apps on the home screen.

The compact device is empowered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on Google’s Android Gingerbread 2.3.

Aesthetically designed, Xperia mini integrates best-in-class imaging and display technology from Sony, including Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine and HD video recording (720p).

Rudiger Odenbach, general manager, Middle East, Sony Ericsson, said: 'Despite the compact size, the Xperia  mini offers feature-rich applications that address the needs of today’s users.'

'Additionally, Xperia mini comes pre-loaded with Office Suite and McAfee antivirus software, allowing consumers to manage documents and e-mails instantly and securely while on the move.'

Facebook inside Xperia – an exclusive feature for the Xperia family – provides unique social media integration, said Odenbach.

'Facebook in new Xperia mini is immediately accessible from the most used areas of the phone such as the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar. Furthermore, the application enables users to ‘like’, share and comment more easily than ever.'

Available at leading electronic stores in Bahrain, Xperia mini comes in black and white colors, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
