Mirdif City Centre sees nearly 20m shoppers

Dubai, April 3, 2011

Mirdif City Centre, the award-winning shopping mall with 430 retailers and 75 dining options extending over 196,000 sqm, witnessed close to 20 million shoppers in its first year of operation.

With a considered mix of fashion, home, and electronics stores as well as unique leisure attractions, Mirdif City Centre has successfully carved a niche for itself by hosting exclusive entertainment events alongside internationally-recognized brands which chose the mall for the launch of their very first UAE outlets, including Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Bath & Body Works and PF Chang’s, a company statement said.

Mirdif City Centre has garnered significant local, regional and international recognition in its first twelve months, including awards and record-breaking events.  The mall earned the Guinness World Record for the most people painting simultaneously as part of its “Because We Care” community arts mural project, and received a gold medal from the International Council of Shopping Center’s (ICSC) Asia Shopping Centre awards - the only one awarded in the Middle East - for the same community initiative. ICSC also conferred a silver award on Mirdif City Centre for its launch, which included a range of entertainment and community activities.

Mirdif City Centre’s construction was recognised as the ‘Best Commercial Project in the GCC” at the GCC Construction Week Awards. Mirdif City Centre earned this award, which is the first of its kind to be awarded to a shopping mall in the region, for the outstanding quality of its materials and layout, as well as the mall’s efforts in maintaining health & safety standards and the complete state of the project when officially launched.

“Both residents and tourists are looking for a shopping experience which includes compelling brands, must-see events, and a commitment to outstanding customer service, and we have delivered these elements in our first year of operation,” said Yousif Al Ali, VP, Mirdif City Centre.-TradeArabia News Service
