LG sells over 10m Cookie phones

Amman, December 26, 2009

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader in mobile communications, has shipped more than 10 million units of its LG Cookie (LG KP500) touchphone since its launch in November 2008.

The Cookie is LG’s fifth phone to achieve the milestone following the LG Chocolate, LG Shine, LG KP100 and LG KG270.

“We are pleased that the LG Cookie was able to reach the benchmark of 10-million shipments in a short period of time,” said Kevin Cha, managing director of LG Electronics Levant.

“The sales record adds credence to our philosophy of studying consumer demands and offering a full touchphone that balances premium features with sleek design. LG will continue to shape the future by delivering products and technologies to satisfy the tastes and expectations of our consumers,” he added.

The LG Cookie sold more than five million units in Europe, two million in Latin America and two million in Asia, said a statement.

The Cookie’s slim exterior with a broad range of colour options offers consumers choices to suit personal tastes.

The touchphone packs a range of features usually found only in premium-priced full touchphones including an intuitive and easy-to-use user interface, support for widgets, shortcut keys and a 3.0 megapixel camera, the statement added.

The Middle East version also includes the Quran and a compass to indicate the direction of Makkah. – TradeArabia News Service
