Samsung Electronics, the leading printer vendor, has launched its new colour laser printer, said to be the world's smallest and lightest colour laser printer.

“Our new CLP-315 smallest colour laser printer, exclusive NO NOIS print engine, and laser quality prints give the perfect reason to upgrade to the lightest colour laser printer CLP-315”, said Mehdi Heidari, business head of printers, digital printing division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

“Samsung will continue to strive for the highest standards of durability, maximum economic value, and optimized user-convenience for our users everywhere,” he added.

At 9.6 height x 15.3 width x 12.3 depth inches, the Samsung CLP-315 is the smallest ever tested and the lightest by far, at just 24.3 pounds (11 kg).

BLI Lab test certified that CLP-315 is the quietest printer in its class in terms of vibration and average noise emissions, according to a statement.

Samsung’s exclusive NO NOIS print engine is the same print engine found in their bestselling color printers.

To keep the height down, the paper drawer is limited to 150 sheets. If printing more than about 30 pages per day, on average, refilling the drawer may turn into an annoying chore. This shouldn't be a problem in most cases, given that the CLP-315 is meant as a personal printer that connects by USB cable only.

The toner cartridges ship in place inside the printer, without needing any preparation before using them. The printer also comes with drivers for Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Vista, Vista x64, Linux, and Mac OS 10.3 through 10.5. A driver for XP x64 is also available on Samsung's Web site.

One of the ways Samsung kept the cost down was by using one laser and four-pass printing—meaning that the paper needs four passes for colour pages, with one pass for each toner colour.

The design gives the engine a rating of 17 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome but only 4 ppm for colour. However, the CLP-315 is much faster than the vast majority of inkjets, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
