Al Khafji says facilities safe, no oil spill

DAMMAM, August 13, 2017

Al Khafji Joint Operations has confirmed the safety of its facilities and that they are free from any oil spill after reports of an oil spill from an oil tanker in the northeast of the Arabian Gulf.

Al Khafji Joint Operations announced the activation of the crisis management plan and the conduct of an aerial survey of the submerged area to ensure the safety of installations and beaches, said a Saudi Press Agency report.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Committee of Bahrain also said the kingdom's regional waters aren’t affected by the oil spill near Kuwait’s shores, according to a BNA report.

General Director of Civil Defence and the panel secretary, Brigadier Abdulaziz Rashid Al Amer, highlighted that the Chief of Public Security and head of the committee directed to look into the matter and take the necessary steps and plans to deal with such accidents, in which it turned to be that Bahrain is far from the oil spill.

He said that the committee is in touch with concerned authorities in Kuwait to learn the latest developments.
