PetroRabigh shuts ethane cracker on generator fault

RIYADH, June 23, 2016

Saudi Arabia's Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co (PetroRabigh) has shut its ethane cracker due to a turbine generator fault, it said on Thursday.

The closure took place late on Tuesday as a precautionary measure, the firm said in a bourse statement.

The firm was conducting a technical evaluation ahead of necessary repair and maintenance operations, although it did not say how long this process would take.

PetroRabigh, a joint venture between Japan's Sumitomo Chemical and Saudi Aramco, also said it was evaluating the financial impact of the shutdown and this would be announced in due course.-Reuters
