Reservoir applications, technologies in focus at SPE event

ABU DHABI, September 16, 2015

Reservoir applications and different technologies for characterisation, modelling and simulating reservoir characteristics was the focus of a recently concluded conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
 
Shell took part in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Reservoir Characterisation and Simulation Conference and Exhibition (RCSC) and also in the SPE Regional Honors and Awards hosted by Fareed Abdulla, SPE regional director, Middle East and North Africa.
 
The fifth edition of the event brought together oil and gas industry professionals from around the region dealing with reservoir characterisation and simulation challenges in fields throughout the Middle East.
 
During the executive plenary session of the conference, Andrew Vaughan, Shell vice president for Abu Dhabi and Kuwait and Country chairman for Shell Abu Dhabi gave a presentation, titled 'Integrated Reservoir Characterisation and Innovative Technologies to Reduce Uncertainties and Maximise Recovery.'
 
“I am pleased to represent Shell at SPE events, which provide a superb platform for regional and international experts to share best practices and innovative thinking. Technology is at the core of our industry and its continued application will be crucial to increasing recovery of both oil and gas in this region.”, said Vaughan.
 
At the awards cermoney held in coordination with the event, Dr Shehadeh Masalmeh, senior advisor reservoir engineer working with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), seconded from Shell, won the '2015 SPE Middle East Regional Technical Award in Reservoir Description and Dynamics.' 
 
The award acknowledged Dr Masalmeh’s contributions to the SPE at section and regional levels and recognised his singular devotion of time and effort to the SPE programmes and development of technical expertise. - TradeArabia News Service
