Summit focus on occupational safety

Al Khobar, March 2, 2014

A key summit, to be held in Saudi Arabia's Al Khobar in May, will address the importance of occupational health safety.

The 3rd Annual Middle East OHS Strategy Summit, organised by Fleming Gulf, will emphasise the need to prevent occupational accidents, occupational diseases and workrelated health hazards. It is scheduled to be held from May 7 to 9 in Le Meridien Al Khobar.

Outlining the role of managers and ways to develop a proactive safety culture at the summit will be Ahmed Ajabnoor, director ISD & GA from Maaden.

Fatigue is one of the leading factors contributing to risk of being injured or killed. Elaborating on detection of fatigue in order to avoid adverse effects at the summit will be Dr Kashif Afzal, health director-Middle East, BP.

Saudi Aramco's Sultan H Al-Zahrani, director-traffic safety signature program, will talk about the four E’s -- engineering, enforcement, education and emergency response  -- of traffic safety strategy.

The prestigious speaker panel includes Dr Ali Salem Al Alili, director of occupational health and safety from Ministry of Labour-UAE, Sergey Peresypkin, director HSE-Middle East from Baker Hughes, and Dr Syed Z Hussaini, occupational health specialist from RasGas.

The summit will give an opportunity to network with government entities and health, safety and environment decision makers from oil, gas and petrochemicals industries, utilities, manufacturing, warehousing and transport. - TradeArabia News Service
