Bahrain PM orders new traffic clampdown

MANAMA, March 31, 2015

Bahrain’s Premier has ordered a crackdown on drivers who are still flouting the new traffic law.

This came as His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the weekly Cabinet session at Gudaibiya Palace, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

He also gave instructions to adopt new steps to ease traffic ordeals and find solutions to tackle road congestion.

He stressed the need to concentrate on main arteries, citing particularly Khalifa bin Salman Highway (near Seef area), Al Fateh Highway from Umm Al Hassam and Isa bin Salman Highway.

The Premier also underlined the importance of seeking a consensus with parliament on Bahrain's budget for 2015-2016.

“The Premier assigned the ministerial committee for financial affairs and spending adjustment to bridge the gap with parliament regarding the proposed budget,” said Cabinet secretary general Dr Yasser bin Essa Al Nasser.

The Premier stressed the importance of taking into account global economic trends, noting particularly the oil price slide in international markets.

He underscored the need to preserve allowance packages granted to eligible citizens over the past years despite the fall in oil prices. - TradeArabia News Service
