MANAMA, July 8, 2015
Bahrain’s election to the vice-presidency of a UN General Assembly session was hailed yesterday (July 7) as a major diplomatic achievement and international recognition.
Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said Bahrain’s UN Permanent Representative Jamal Fares Alrowaiei will be vice-president of the 70th session, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
“This is recognition by the international community of the important role played by Bahrain at regional and international levels, and its efforts to cement security and stability,” he said.
The election will inject into Bahrain’s diplomacy a strong momentum to translate the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad into action to continue the progress of the kingdom’s comprehensive development, he said. - TradeArabia News Service
