The aid shipment being delivered

Bahrain sends 910-tonne aid shipment to Yemen

MANAMA, July 1, 2015

A 910-tonne aid shipment has been dispatched to Yemen by Bahrain’s Royal Charity Organisation (RCO).

RCO chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said the timing and size of the shipment reflects His Majesty King Hamad’s commitment to relieve the suffering of Yemeni people during Ramadan, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

“This is the first shipment of aid from Bahrain to the Yemeni people,” Shaikh Nasser said.

“It shows how keen His Majesty is to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people, considering the difficult circumstances they are currently going through.”

RCO chairman Dr Mustafa Al Sayed said the shipment included medical supplies, food, water and tents.

It was handed over at a port in Djibouti to the UN Relief Fund and will be distributed in various regions in Yemen. - TradeArabia News Service
