Bahrain salutes 'visionary leader and man of peace'

Bahrain joined the world yesterday in saluting Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as a committed regional peacemaker and reformer.

His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa took part in the funeral of the Saudi monarch at Al Uud Cemetery in Riyadh, in the presence of a number of Arab and Islamic leaders, and representatives of friendly countries.

His Majesty and HRH the Premier also offered sincere condolences of the Bahraini government and people to the new Saudi monarch, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King Abdullah's brothers and sons and to the Al Saud Royal Family.

His Majesty said that Saudi Arabia, GCC countries and the Arab and Islamic nations had lost a great and iconic leader, who had dedicated his life in serving his country and championing Arabic, Islamic and humane causes.

He asserted that the late monarch was a role model of wisdom, statesmanship and dedication.

His landmark achievements and leadership will remain an example to follow, His Majesty said.

Bahrain will always recall with gratitude and appreciation the late monarch's imprints and contributions to Saudi Arabia's progress march, and keenness to enhance joint GCC march and cementing co-operation among the member states, he said.

His Majesty affirmed that Bahrain's leadership and people will always recall with pride King Abdullah's honourable supportive stances towards it.

His Majesty prayed Allah Almighty to rest the soul of the late monarch in eternal peace and grant the Saudi Royal Family patience and consolation.

He expressed confidence that King Salman and Prince Muqrin will carry on the late king's role in serving Arab and Islamic nations and enhancing joint Arab action to be able to face challenges.

HRH the Premier also underlined the late monarch's landmark efforts to consolidate the GCC and Arab progress.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, paid tribute to the late King, describing him as a towering Arab leader who had contributed to asserting security and peace in the region.-TradeArabia News Service
