Widespread anger has erupted over the terror blast that killed three on-duty policemen in Daih on Monday, with calls to apprehend those responsible and restore order in Bahrain.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa held a phone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah, who condemned the heinous act, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The Kuwaiti Premier reiterated his country's support for all measures being enforced in Bahrain to maintain its security and ward off threats.

HRH the Premier welcomed Kuwait's supportive stance, which, he said, reflected deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, GCC secretary-general Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani expressed to BTV his condolences to the country's leadership, the Interior Ministry and all security personnel over the tragedy.

He said the "cowardly" terrorist attack contravened all religions, humanitarian principles and international law. He praised the efforts of Bahrain's security forces in maintaining law and order.

Dr Al Zayani denounced attempts aimed at destabilising the country and targeting its citizens.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs called on Bahrainis to stand united against violence and firmly enforce law to protect lives and save the nation from chaos or even "civil war".

Furthermore, the GCC ministerial council stressed the need to bring in the perpetrators to justice and voiced support to the communique issued by Bahrain branding the February 14 Coalition, Ashtar Brigades and Resistance Brigades as well as their allies as terror organisations. The council urged all international organisations to do the same.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry affirmed the country's support to Bahrain's efforts to combat terrorism.

The French Embassy affirmed that "only through dialogue and rejection of violence, will Bahrain be able to ease tensions".

Italian Ambassador Alberto Vecchi said, "Italy reckons that such an act of terroristic violence undermines all efforts for national reconciliation."

Russian Ambassador Viktor Smirnov "strongly condemned" the incident and called for joint efforts to fight violence.

"Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, its perpetrators and instigators should face our concerted struggle," he said.

Central Governorate Governor Mubarak Al Fadhel denounced those responsible for the act and asserted that people will not be frightened due to the deplorable incident.

However, he said, such criminal acts committed by outlaws will boost "our cohesion and trust in our leadership".
