A proposal to set up a national food company will be on the agenda of the next parliamentary session. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the plan for the government-owned firm which aims at promoting food security.

Most GCC countries have similar companies operating abroad, according to the backers of the proposal, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

They point out that GCC member states are also considering plans to set up a joint investment company to launch agricultural projects abroad.-TradeArabia News Service
