New pension plan for GCC security forces

Manama, February 11, 2014

GCC security forces, including policemen and military personnel, will be allowed to add years of service to their pensions even if they work abroad.

It means officers can request serving in police or military establishments of other Gulf countries, with them having the choice of getting their pensions from their homeland or the country they serve in when retiring, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The bill approved by the Shura Council yesterday will be ratified by His Majesty King Hamad after being approved by parliament last month.

It will be backdated to June 2011 in line with other GCC countries that have started adopting it. - TradeArabia News Service
