Bahrain records 45,000 visa violations

A total of 45,000 visa violations were recorded in Bahrain over the past four years, our sister newspaper, the Gulf Daily News reported.

The number of runaway maid cases reached 5,593, with 1,254 in 2009, 1,378 in 2010 and 1,431 in 2011 and 1,530 last year.

The number of deported male expatriates reached 8,519, with 2,335 in 2009, 2,902 in 2010, 1,838 in 2011 and 1,444 from January to September last year, said General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence affairs search and follow-up director Colonel Ghazi Saleh Al Sinan.

Meanwhile, general directorate of traffic reported 29,510 traffic violations last month.

These included 2,319 for speeding and racing on public roads, 1,640 for using mobile phones while driving, 295 for jumping red lights, 719 for illegal overtaking, 299 for driving on the wrong side of the road, 2,743 for not wearing seatbelts and 114 for allowing children under the age of 10 to sit in the front seat, traffic culture director Major Moosa Al Dossary said. – TradeArabia News Service
