Dubai, November 24, 2011

Metito, a leading provider of total intelligent water management and solutions in emerging markets, has been awarded the 2011 Best Waste Water Treatment Project award for its Yas Land project, organised by H2O magazine.

It was presented to atMetito at the 1st Middle East Water Leakage Summit, where thought leaders and industry professionals gathered to discuss and establish ways for effective water leakage management, a statement from the company said.

The UAE-based company won the award for its Yas Island project which involved constructing, executing and putting into operation new sewage treatment works to serve the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix track.

The project will utilise a membrane bioreactor process which produces high quality effluent that can be safely used in open irrigation with no health hazard, the statement said.

Bassem Halabi, group business development director, Metito Overseas, said: “The Yas Island development is now known around the world and we are glad to have played our part in such a dynamic and exciting project.”

The scope of the sewage treatment work includes treatment facilities split into three equal streams of 19,000m3/day each.

The plant will also serve Warner Brothers Movie World, Ferrari World, hotels including Yas Marina, a water park and the Yas Mall.

In addition, a park land golf course, marinas, a polo club, apartments, villas, as well as food and beverage outlets will also benefit from the project. – TradeArabia News Service
