Berger Paints Oman names new GM

India-based Asian Paints, the largest user of the colour mixing technology, has appointed P K Raj as general manager of its subsidiary Berger Paints Oman.

As general manager, Raj will oversee the strategy, policy, business planning, legal, performance and quality improvement functions of Berger Paints in Oman.

He started his career with Asian Paints (India) in Mumbai and after a long stint in Bangalore, Guwahati and Kolkata, he was deputed to the international business operations of Asian Paints in South Pacific region.

Before moving out to take over the reins of the Oman unit, Raj headed Berger Paints Emirates for close to a year. His movement to Oman is part of the company’s strategy to focus on key markets.

"It is exciting to represent a forward-looking company like Berger Paints in Oman, as we strive to remain a leader in a highly critical and competitive industry," Raj said.

“Berger Paints has had a very long association with Oman, initially entering the market in the 90’s through exports from the Indian unit. In 1999 it established its first factory in Muscat and in the last few years has built up considerable strengths in the Oman market.”

“Starting with a focus on wood coatings, Berger Paints has now become the market leader in this segment and is the preferred supplier for the largest joineries in Oman.
