Over 200 firms set for Dubai wood show
Dubai, April 4, 2011
More than 200 leading exhibitors from across the globe will showcase their products and services at ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show,’ which opens today at the Dubai Airport Expo.
A landmark event for wood trade and investment, Dubai WoodShow will be the biggest this year, said event organisers, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions (SME). The three-day show will also feature key activities like four-hour daily thought leadership conferences.
Established as the Middle East region’s premier and dedicated wood and wood working machinery exhibition, ‘Dubai WoodShow’, will feature products and services of over 200 exhibitors coming from 40 countries from around the world, it added.
The increased usage of wood as an essential building material and the increased demand for more wood working machinery are the key focus points in this year’s show.
“We are very excited to present our largest edition of ‘Dubai WoodShow’ ever - showcasing the products and services of 200 exhibitors coming from 40 different global locations,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, chief executive of SME.
'This year, we are looking to stir in more active participation from exhibitors, visitors and other participants and help address the growing demands and tackle other significant issues in the region’s wood industry,' Al Shezawi said.
'This year’s edition looks towards helping participants develop strategic new partnerships and reinforce existing trade relationships,' he added.
In addition, the success of the ‘Dubai WoodShow’ has prompted organisers to expand into newer markets like Abu Dhabi and Cairo with announcement of ‘Cairo WoodShow’ edition in September and an ‘Abu Dhabi WoodShow’ edition in October later this year.
‘Dubai WoodShow’ is set to feature exhibitors from over 11 different specialized sections featuring key products and services like materials, chemical products, surfaces, interior decorations, elements and systems, fittings, semi-finished products, upholstery materials, fabrics and leathers, power tools and services.
The different sections will showcase essential wood products like finishing and fittings; furniture supplies; plywood and hardboards; chipboards; wood and timber flooring; wooden crafts and arts and other wood based products and materials.
Some of the latest woodworking machinery for timber processing, cladding, boring, bleaching and wood treatment will also be on display during the three-day event. ‘Dubai WoodShow’ aims to give visitors a new perspective on key global trends, designs, initiatives and collaborations from manufacturers and suppliers participating in the show.
“We are expecting to see more than 8,000 visitors in this year’s event, thereby affirming our mark as the largest ever wood and wood machinery exhibition in the Mena region,' he added.
The event is also being supported by EUMABOIS, a non-profit Federation grouping of 13 national associations representing the major European manufacturers of machines and accessories for woodworking and boasts of more than 800 member companies.
Last year, Dubai Wood Show created more than half a billion dollars worth of trade for exhibitors and trade professionals since it started in 2005 and has showcased the products and services of 700 exhibitors to more than 25,000 visitors.-TradeArabia News Service
