, May 24, 2010

Clyde & Company has been named Middle East law firm of the year by legal market intelligence and transactional analysis provider 'PLC Which Lawyer?.

Clyde & Co has four offices in the Middle East: in Abu Dhabi and Dubai (UAE); Doha in Qatar; and an associated office in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

One of the largest international law firms in the GCC with around 150 specialist lawyers and paralegals, Clyde & Company said the recognition was part of annual awards that canvass the views of over 5,500 legal departments internationally.

The winners of the PLC Which Lawyer 'firms of the year' are selected solely by in-house counsel votes.

The award announcements add context to the selection of each leading firm by highlighting an indicative or defining client quote.

For Clyde & Co in the Middle East the client quote was: 'Clydes are the only firm in the Gulf that has the stability and depth to compete on a regional basis. They managed to weather the economic storm of the past year in Dubai while still maintaining staff and quality of work.'

Formally established in the Middle East over 20 years ago in 1989 after many years of regional client involvement, Clyde & Co today is one of the major corporate law firm brands in the Middle East.

Internationally, Clyde & Co is particularly well known for expertise in relation to international trade, emerging markets and in relation to high profile and/or difficult dispute work.

The other nominated law firms for the Middle East were Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Denton Wilde Sapte, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Latham & Watkins.-TradeArabia News Service
