Gazeley wins Green excellence award
Dubai, May 8, 2010
Gazeley, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Economic Zones World Group said the company has reaffirmed its Green credentials by winning France’s major Journal de la Logistique Sustainability Award.
A leading provider of sustainable logistics and industrial space, Gazeley, said the 'Best European Logistics Building' award was presented to G.Park Blue Planet, its 35,500 sq m sustainable logistics development in the UK’s Chatterley Valley.
The widely respected logistics magazine selected Gazeley over 14 leading international developments in the hotly contested environmental category.
Maité Inglis, managing director for Gazeley in France and Jonathan Fenton-Jones, director of Sustainability and Global Procurement at Gazeley, received the award in Paris.
The French honour is the latest in a series of global recognitions the company has won for its contribution to sustainable environment values through world class developments.
“The award adds another feather to Gazeley’s crown of achievements,” Fenton-Jones said.
“We have set a new benchmark for Green excellence that reflects our commitment to sustainability. For Gazeley it is a continuing process to ensure global standards in environment protection that can make measurable positive impact in energy conservation,” he remarked.
Gazeley passed several milestones of international recognitions in 2009, stamping its leading position as the provider of environment friendly logistics space.
G.Park Blue Planet is the first development in the world to be awarded the Breeam (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) “Outstanding” rating, the highest sustainable accolade available in the industrial property market.
The environmental features incorporated into the logistics building enable it to save up to £300,000 per year in reduced running costs.
Among the several sustainability awards Gazeley has won are the ‘Best Sustainable Development’ at the Leaf Awards, Industrial Agents Society Awards, UK Commercial Property Awards and Hanse Global.
Gazeley has so far built over 60 million sq ft (5.6 million sq m) of highly efficient, carbon positive logistics and industrial spaces and distribution parks across the world.
Apart from Gazeley, Economic Zones World’s portfolio includes Jafza, the flagship free zone, TechnoPark, a research driven business and industrial park, and Dubai Auto Zone, a comprehensive market place for the automotive industry.-TradeArabia News Service
