Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based live events producers, has confirmed the first names in a line-up of musicians set to perform at Wakestock Abu Dhabi, a wakeboard music festival, combining music and watersports.

Flash Entertainment will organise Wakestock Abu Dhabi 2010 from March 4 to 6 on the Corniche’s Al Sahil beach in partnership with the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City and Abu Dhabi Beaches.

Mercury Prize-nominated British alternative rock band Maximo Park, with two platinum albums, will entertain on March 5.

The final night of the festival, March 6, legendary Grammy and NME award winning De La Soul will take to the stage to drop jazzy beats matched only by their trademark quirky lyrics.

With a combination of adrenaline-pumping watersport action by day and world class music by night, the free three day festival promises an unforgettable experience for the entire community, a statement said.

“Wakestock Abu Dhabi 2010 is set to become another incredible event for the entire community, instilling the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City’s commitment for the future of Abu Dhabi wonderfully,” said John Lickrish, managing director of Flash Entertainment.

“We have confirmed the world’s top wakeboarders for the competition, and this talent is only matched by the quality of the artists performing in the evenings. Maximo Park, De La Soul and more will no doubt rock Abu Dhabi Corniche, ensuring an action packed free three day festival for all to enjoy. As the official first stop on the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series, the event will contribute points to the world rankings ensuring the best wakeboarders in the world will be in attendance, the statement said.
