Abu Dhabi, October 1, 2009
Electro-pop-funk legend Jamiroquai will perform on October 30 as part of the Yasalam After-Race events to be held after the Grand Prix race on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, said Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based events company.
The 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be held on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi from October 30 to November 1.
The British pop band will be joining celebrity entertainers Beyonce and Aerosmith during the weekend of Yasalam concerts.
The Yasalam After-Race concerts are exclusively for Grand Prix ticket holders and will be taking place at the Concert Arena, Ferrari World, Yas Island throughout the weekend.
People who have purchased a 3-day F1 Race ticket will be able to access all four nights of after-race concerts, and if they have purchased a 2-day ticket they will be able to access the concerts on Saturday and Sunday only.
Flash confirmed that no additional tickets will be sold for any of the four nights of shows.
“We are thrilled to be able to announce another fantastic act for the Yasalam After-Race concerts,” said John Lickrish, managing director of Flash Entertainment.
“Jamiroquai has a huge following all over the world, and lead singer Jay Kay’s penchant for motorsport makes it the perfect performance for the evening after the race,” he added.
“We have an amazing line-up of artists to complement the spectacular race at Yas Marina Circuit, and you can already feel the excitement building.”
“While the Yasalam After-Race concerts are exclusive to Grand Prix ticket holders only, there is a full programme of fantastic free concerts, movie nights, and motor-sport themed events taking place all over the city. I’d encourage people to join the party at yasalam.ae,” Lickrish said.
The Yasalam After-Race concerts on Yas Island are part of a wider programme of events which have been announced under the Yasalam (Arabic for ‘amazing’) banner.
Yasalam will see a series of events and activities in Abu Dhabi throughout October to celebrate the country’s biggest sporting event – the 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand prix.
These Yasalam events will include educational events for students, live art with F1 replica cars, free concerts and film screenings on the Corniche in addition to the first official F1 Fan Zone Abu Dhabi, brought to the city by Mubadala, a leading business development and investment company based in Abu Dhabi.
