Abu Dhabi to participate in Hannover fair
Abu Dhabi, April 8, 2009
Abu Dhabi will participate for the second consecutive year in the Hannover International Fair 2009, aiming to promote ties with Germany and Europe, said a statement from the Department of Economic Development (DED).
The Hannover International Fair 2009 (Hannover Messe) will be held in Hannover from April 20 to 24.
Abu Dhabi’s participation is also aimed at contributing to the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, said the statement.
The participation of nine of the most prominent government bodies and private institutions at the Abu Dhabi pavilion is evidence of the high significance of this event to the capital.
“The rapid success of Abu Dhabi in the last few decades led to the formation of the Economic Vision 2030 which lays out the map for the future development of the capital,” said Mohammed Omar Abdullah, DED undersecretary, who heads the Abu Dhabi delegation.
“We aim to promote the vision and the development strategy that is being carried out in the emirate with the aim of transforming its current economy into a knowledge-based economy and to attract emerging investment opportunities,” he added.
“Hannover Messe 2009 is extremely important for us to achieve this strategy especially after the huge success of last year’s edition.”
“In order to diversify our economy, we need to further interact with the world and increasingly attract foreign investments. Benefiting from the expertise and the high technological capabilities that foreign investors bring to the region is extremely important for realizing the economic transformation that we hope to achieve,” Omar Abdullah continued.
“Hannover Messe 2009 is the ideal platform to introduce our products and services and continuously stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.
“It also provides us with an opportunity to interact and build relations with investors and business executives and create international channels that we believe are important for us to achieve our future vision.
“Our presence at this exhibition emphasizes and strengthens our commitment towards enhancing connections between the industrial and technological world with the aim of realizing the Economic Vision 2030 objectives.”
Collaboration between UAE and Germany has grown remarkably since the strategic partnership between the two countries commenced in 2004 addressing different fields.
The 23 per cent increase in trade between the emirate and Germany last year, and Abu Dhabi’s recent acquisition of the largest stake in Germany’s Daimler Chrysler, are tangible testimonies of this vibrant relationship.
The Abu Dhabi pavilion at the fair will see participation from Department of Economic Development (DED), General Holding Corporation, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Abu Dhabi Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones, Abu Dhabi Airports Company, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority.
Hannover Messe is one of the oldest exhibitions in the world and considered to be the largest event specialized in industrial and technological innovations. This year’s edition is expected to be the biggest, with 6400 exhibitors from 70 countries spread across a 490,000 square meter venue. – TradeArabia News Service
