Bahrain's eKiosks to offer quick services

Manama, March 26, 2009

Bahrain has launched an innovative way to provide eServices to the public through self-service eKiosks.

About 35 eKiosks will be set up in different parts of Bahrain, under an agreement signed by the eGovernment Authority (eGA) with CrediMax.

eGA chief executive officer Mohammed Al Qaed and CrediMax chief executive Mohammed Malik signed the agreement.

'The eKiosks represent a new and innovative way to provide our eServices and deliver them to our customers - citizens, residents, businesses and the government - in an effective manner,' Al Qaed told our sister newspaper Gulf Daily News.

'We believe this will further provide easy access for people to government services and the project is in line with Bahrain Vision 2030.'

The eKiosks are fixed electronic self-service devices similar to ATM machines, where users can access eGovernment services available on its portal, said Al Qaed.

'The eKiosks will be set up in various locations which have been carefully selected throughout Bahrain to enable the public to carry out their transactions from anywhere.

'We hope the first 10 kiosks will be ready within three months.

'Out of 76 e-services now available on the government portal, people can access at least 50 through the kiosks.'

Malik said CrediMax was proud to be partners with a leading organisation such as the eGA because of its major contribution to improving the living standards of the people of Bahrain.

'The eKiosks comprise one of the main channels through which government eServices will be available to the general public in an innovative and convenient manner with around-the-clock accessibility.'

Other eServices channels include eGovernment national portal, Mobile portal, the National Call Centre and Common Services Centres.-TradeArabia News Service
