Dr Ali bin Tamim between Mohamed al Hamadi and Nick Pimm

Aletihad partners with Wall Street Journal

ABU DHABI, February 19, 2018

Abu Dhabi Media’s Aletihad newspaper has entered into a commercial partnership with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) to leverage WSJ’s reporting and analysis to expand its readership and strengthen its digital news offering.

The agreement attended by Dr Ali bin Tamim, director General of Abu Dhabi Media, Dr Obaid Al Zaabi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), Mohammad Al Hammadi, editor-in-chief of Aletihad Newspaper and executive director of Publishing at Abu Dhabi Media; and Nick Pimm, director of Commercial Partnerships at Dow Jones, as well as representatives from the SCA and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

As part of the new deal announced today, those who subscribe to Aletihad after January 19 will receive a one year subscription to the digital edition of WSJ. The partnership will grant Abu Dhabi Media access to additional news stories, features, opinion pieces, videos, and infographics to share in English and Arabic across its digital platforms.

“This strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi Media and the Wall Street Journal is in line with our efforts to reach a wider audience and to position us as the leading and most diversified media organization in the UAE and the wider region,” said Dr Ali bin Tamim.

“Abu Dhabi Media is keen to enhance its presence across all media platforms by providing content that takes into account the interests of its audiences, as well as providing them with various media materials. This is especially important in the fields of economic journalism and analytical journalism, which have become the focus of a large segment of readers and viewers. Enhancing its new media presence and consolidating its content will allow ADM to maintain its distinguished position as a leading media company in the Arab world.”

Al-Hammadi said: “It is our constant endeavour to provide the highest standard of content for our readers. This partnership is yet another step forward towards fulfilling that commitment. WSJ is a top-tier global publication that is widely respected for its insightful and in-depth coverage, as well as its analysis of world events. This agreement will serve to further enhance our news content and expand our international reach.”

The partnership supports Abu Dhabi Media’s ongoing objectives to reach out to a broad community base and diversify its content through a wide variety of new media platforms in line with the highest international standards.

Aletihad will dedicate a section for translated content from WSJ in the Al Eqtissadi supplement. This content is set to be translated into Arabic on a weekly basis, reinforcing Aletihad’s continued status as the leading source of Arabic-language news for local readers.

“Aletihad continues to set the standard for Arabic-language news as the first and oldest newspaper in the region,” said Jonathan Wright, global managing director, Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal.

“This partnership enables us to deliver The Wall Street Journal’s world-class business, economic and political news and commentary to Aletihad’s readers, reaching an even wider audience in the UAE. I look forward to seeing our collaboration with Abu Dhabi Media grow and mature as we move forward together,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
