Abu Dhabi gears up for Korean pop concert
ABU DHABI, March 15, 2016
Tickets to Korea’s first cultural convention in the Middle East are selling as thousands of K-pop fans get ready to see BTS, Taeyeon (Girl's Generation), Kyuhyun (Super Junior), Double S 301, Monsta X, and Spica.
KCON 2016 will take place on March 25 at the du Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
New to the line-up is Ailee, dubbed the Korean Beyonce, who has now been confirmed to wow UAE fans, said a statement.
With the first batch of tickets selling out fast, Asia’s leading media and content company CJ E&M announced that the second round of tickets are now available at local Virgin Megastores and www.ticketmaster.ae, with prices starting at Dh350 ($95) for gold tickets.
The event will feature a host of activities which best represent Korean culture, including K-beauty and K-food.
The Middle East has been identified as an emerging market for Hallyu, or the so-called Korean wave, and Korean entertainment industry insiders believe the response to the event will be positive given the phenomenal growth of popularity for K-pop idols in recent years.
Ahn Suk Joon, CJ E&M Music Division president, said: “We hope to see KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi serve as a catalyst to spread Korean culture in the Middle East, where the whole world is paying close attention these days for its vast business opportunities.” - TradeArabia News Service
