New 'names of Allah' paintings expo to open in Dubai

DUBAI, March 3, 2016

A new exhibition of paintings is set to begin on March 3 at the Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa, celebrating 'Light and love in the 99 names of Allah,' through a series of abstract expressionistic works by well-known and long standing artist and author Art Noor.

As many as 33 paintings will be exhibited at the hotel's dedicated art space, and a copy of Art Noor’s book entitled '99 Names of Allah' will be gifted to every visitor of the opening reception, while high quality affordable prints of Art Noor’s large body of work will be made available to visitors by Monda Gallery, which is organising the event.

During the event, Art Noor will be looking forward to meeting visitors and signing and personalizing complementary copies of his book.

Of Muslim faith and originating from the advertising world, Art Noor broke away from his highly successful corporate career in advertising in 2002 to dedicate his time to art, and more particularly all topics related to god, and love.

After two intense years of practice, he held his first solo exhibition in 2004, followed by two more exhibitions in 2008 and 2009.

Art Noor continued working on the subject of the ‘99 Names of Allah’, culminating with the publication of his book on the subject and an extensive solo exhibition at the World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi, in 2013.

At the beginning of last year, Art Noor held another exhibition called ‘Ruminiscence’ introducing a new series of works based on the love poetry by Maulana Jalal Uddin Rumi. His latest works both from the 99 Names of Allah and the Ruminiscence series will be exhibited in his upcoming exhibition.

Monda Gallery offers original works from the Middle East and Asia as well as fine art prints and photography. The gallery closely collaborates with Sofitel The Palm for year-round exhibitions of artworks both from regional and international artists.

Monda Gallery owner, Etienne van den Peereboom, said: “It is a great pleasure and honour to organise this exhibition with Art Noor, at a time where his work from the past 14 years reaches incredible significance amidst current international developments, and at the same time offers non-Muslim residents of the UAE an easy and fascinating entry point to the Muslim faith. His artworks are universal and captivating in many ways.”

The exhibition is free to attend and will run until April 16. - TradeArabia News Service
