Bahrain showcases agri, cultural heritage at Expo Milano

MANAMA, May 1, 2015

Bahrain’s pavilion in the Expo Milano will open today (May 1) as the international exhibition kicks off.

The pavilion is called ‘Archaeologies of Green’ and will feature agricultural and cultural heritage from Bahrain over six months of the expo, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The pavilion will feature various programmes, including henna decoration, Arabic coffee, weaving baskets, constructing wooden boxes, folk music and Bahraini cuisine, while displaying agricultural artefacts dating back to the Dilmun civilisation.

There will be live demonstrations of local traditions such as basket-weaving.

Guests will also be introduced to the timeless tradition of basket making using palm tree fronds. It will also host fashion shows of traditional Bahraini clothes. - TradeArabia News Service
