Bahrain’s Akhbar Al Khaleej editor-in-chief Anwar Abdulrahman has been named 'Media Personality of the Year' by top Arab organisations.

This comes as a recognition for his efforts to promote culture and media and his outstanding approach towards raising Arab causes, particularly social and political issues in Bahrain, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

United Arab Media Council General Secretariat and Arab Youth Media Forum bestowed the honour upon Abdulrahman on Arab Media Day (April 7).

The choice of Abdulrahman as media figure of the year is not only in recognition of his media stature but also an honour to Arab Media Day.

When Manama was chosen as Arab Media Capital in 2012, Abdulrahman said: "I can't see any progress for the Press without progress of the reader's intellect." - TradeArabia News Service
