Thomson Reuters expands access to DME via Eikon

Dubai, July 22, 2014

Customers of Thomson Reuters Eikon can now access the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME), the premier energy futures and commodities exchange in the Middle East.

This announcement follows an earlier announced agreement between Thomson Reuters and CME Group, DME’s majority shareholder.

This integration improves the ease with which Eikon and CME Direct clients can research, enter and manage trades on DME. DME customers will benefit from seamless access to CME Direct’s electronic execution capabilities alongside the news, charting and analysis tools available in Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Thomson Reuters Eikon customers registered to trade on DME can now access DME’s benchmark Oman crude oil futures contracts via the Eikon integration with CME Direct, a front-end commodity derivatives trading platform provided by CME Group.

“This is an exciting development for DME and comes at a time when the Exchange is in a very strong growth phase,” said Christopher Fix, chief executive officer of DME.

“Trading activity in our flagship contract, DME Oman, has never been higher and so the ability to access DME through Thomson Reuters Eikon will be a popular development for our growing customer base.”

"Market participants are increasingly looking for a straightforward way to analyse and trade energy products, particularly given the regulatory drive towards exchange trading,” said Nadim Najjar, managing director, Thomson Reuters.

"By offering our customers access to the growing liquidity on DME Oman alongside the news and analytics services in Eikon, we’re continuing our efforts to provide our customers with the tools they need to develop and execute their trading strategies seamlessly and efficiently."
