Alwaleed Foundation lights up 3 Saudi villages
Jeddah, July 3, 2014
Saudi Arabia-based Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has donated electric generators to three villages in the Aseer region.
As part of the ‘Lighting up Towns & Villages’ project, 43 houses in the Al Salma village, 40 in the Abu Wajeh village and 40 houses from the Juhfat Al-Ain village were installed with the generators, said a statement.
The project has resulted in bringing light in Saudi Arabia’s most remote locations including 500 villages, benefiting over 43,000 households and more than 212,000 people.
The power generators installed in these locations have a 10-year life span, it said.
The power grid does not cover these villages. However, the programme is listed to be connected with the grid during the lifetime of the generators. - TradeArabia News Service
