Dubai, May 27, 2014

ATEME, a global leader in advanced video compression solutions for the broadcast industry, today announced that OSN, a leading pay-TV network in the Mena region, has selected ATEME's Titan software transcoding solution to encode premium content for Video-on-Demand (VOD), in support of a new high-end VOD service launched this spring.

Titan KFE is a multi-codec/multi-format file-based video transcoding software solution. It maximises the video quality and bandwidth efficiency of content for delivery to television, mobile and Internet. It can transcode any mezzanine file to MPEG-2, H.264 and HEVC for VOD, push-VOD, catch-up TV and adaptive streaming services, it said.

Titan KFE is now in production in the Dubai Media City headquarters of OSN, it said.

OSN boasts a comprehensive portfolio of exclusive rights from all the major Hollywood film studios including Warner Brothers, Paramount, Fox, Disney, Sony, MGM, Universal and DreamWorks and offers access to the world's leading television brands including the Disney Channel, Sky News, Discovery Network and National Geographic.

Paul Green, broadcast engineering manager, OSN said: "OSN is continuously increasing its non-linear and digital offerings to customers in direct response to consumer demand within the region.  As we prepared to expand our premium Video-on-Demand service, on our award winning OSN Plus HD hybrid set top box, we sought a solution that would provide our customers with the best possible video quality." - TradeArabia News Service
