The National gets new editor-in-chief

Abu Dhabi, January 30, 2014

Abu Dhabi Media (ADM), a top multi-platform media and entertainment organisation, has appointed Mohammed Al Otaiba as the editor-in-chief of The National, a leading English language newspaper.

Al Otaiba has a distinguished track record in the diplomatic and media arenas, including 10 years representing the UAE at the United Nations in New York, Beijing and London, and later as head of Image Nation Abu Dhabi, a division of ADM's subsidiary Image Nation, charged with developing the local film industry.

Saif Saeed Ghobash, acting chief executive officer at Abu Dhabi Media, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mohammed Al Otaiba as editor-in-chief of The National, and are confident that his well-rounded experience in media, foreign policy and diplomacy will add a valuable global perspective to The National.”

Al Otaiba's appointment coincides with a shift in editorial focus and resourcing to heightened coverage of local news, particularly related to the social and economic development of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

“I am delighted to join The National newspaper and to be granted the opportunity to be part of a true success story for English journalism in the UAE. Writing has been a strong passion of mine for years and I look forward to being part of such a dynamic team of journalists,” said Al Otaiba. – TradeArabia News Service
